Bluebeam Alternative: Construction Team vs Bluebeam Revu [2026]

7 min read

Bluebeam Revu is one of the first names that comes up when you talk about drawings on a construction site. If you use it or someone recommended it, and you are looking for something different or something to add to it, this article is for you. We will say what Bluebeam does, what Construction Team does, where the two are not alike at all, and when it makes sense to take both.

Let us start with the most important point: this is not a comparison of two equal products. Bluebeam is a PDF tool. Construction Team is a management system for a construction company, in which drawings are one of the modules. So part of the comparison is "apples and oranges" by nature, and we will say so wherever that is the case.

The Bluebeam prices below come from its official pricing page as of October 2026. The languages and system requirements come from its public documentation, which we could not open directly, so verify those with the manufacturer as well before you decide.

What Bluebeam Revu is

Bluebeam Revu is a Windows desktop program in which you open PDF drawings and work on them: you add comments and clouds, measure distances and areas, run quantity takeoffs, compare two versions of a sheet and sign documents. Which of these tools you get depends on the plan: the cheapest one measures only length and area, perimeters, counts, angles and volume start with the second, and the link to Excel for quantities is in the third. The subscription includes the cloud part, Studio, where a team reviews and comments on the same files at the same time (the cheapest plan only joins sessions, and hosting them starts with the second plan), plus web and mobile access.

According to the system requirements documentation, Revu 21 is for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Mac users run it through Parallels. The interface is available in thirteen languages, and Bulgarian is not among them.

Pricing

Bluebeam's pricing page shows: Basics $260, Core $330, Complete $440 and Max $590 (introductory price), all per user, billed annually.

Construction Team is priced differently: the price is per plan, not per head. Start is €190, Team €360, Company €690, and Enterprise starts from €999 per month, excluding VAT, and all plans are public on the website. The trial period is free, with no card.

That is why a price comparison is misleading in both directions. For a team of three, Bluebeam Complete comes to about $1,320 a year, while our cheapest plan is €2,280 a year. But they do not buy the same thing: with Bluebeam you get a tool for working on the sheet, with us you get the whole system around it.

Where Bluebeam is better

There is no point in dodging this. If your main job is drawing and measuring on PDFs, Bluebeam does it better than we do, because that is exactly what the product is.

The Construction Team drawings have no tools for drawing clouds, arrows and shapes, no measuring of distances and areas on the sheet, and no quantity takeoffs straight from a PDF. Pins are the only kind of marking. If a design team takes off quantities from drawings every day, it needs Bluebeam and we do not replace it.

Where Construction Team is stronger

At our end, the drawing is tied to the project. You upload a PDF, the system splits it into sheets (up to 30 pages from one file), and each sheet is a separate drawing with a number, a discipline and a version. There are eight disciplines: architecture, structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, landscaping and other.

Pins on a sheet are not just marks. Each pin is tied to a specific record: a defect, a task, an RFI or a note. Click the pin and you reach the record, and from the record you go back to the exact spot on the drawing. That turns the defect list into a map of the site, rather than a table in which nobody remembers which "crack on the third floor" is exactly where. There is a separate article on the defect process itself.

When a new version of a sheet comes out, the pins are not lost: they live on the drawing, not on the individual file. Zoom stays sharp even on dense drawings, because the visible part is redrawn on the fly.

The second big difference is 3D. A drawing can be overlaid on the IFC model by picking two pairs of matching points. From there you select elements of the model and the system proposes a ready-made certificate of completed work, with quantities from the geometry and prices from the contract. We described it in detail in update v1.12. Bluebeam has no such link, because it is not a system for contracts and certificates.

And the third: the site diary can come out as a PDF report with numbered pins on the drawing. The whole chain from the drawing through the defect to the certificate and the invoice is in one place and in one register.

Language and platform

Construction Team is available in Bulgarian, English, Greek, Croatian, Macedonian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovenian, Albanian, Serbian, Turkish and Ukrainian. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install and it does not depend on the operating system. Access from a phone or tablet is through the same browser.

For many Bulgarian sites this matters more than the price: the technical manager on site rarely wants to work in a program in a foreign language and wait for an IT person to install a license.

When to choose which

Take Bluebeam if your work is mostly on PDFs: designers, plumbing and electrical engineers who draw on the sheet, and quantity teams who take off quantities from drawings. Construction Team is not a competitor there.

Take Construction Team if you need the drawing in order to run the site: to tie a defect to an exact place, to track who is responsible for it, to send a query to the designer and to reach the certificate and the invoice without retyping anything.

If your company has both needs, use both. Finished sheets from Bluebeam are uploaded to Construction Team, and from there the work on site is tied to them. If you want to see how the other perspective looks, also read our comparison with Archdesk, and for the module itself see the page on construction drawings software.

Frequently asked questions

Does Construction Team replace Bluebeam Revu?

Not entirely. Bluebeam Revu is a PDF tool in which you draw markups, take measurements and run quantity takeoffs directly on the sheet. Construction Team has no such drawing and measuring tools. It keeps drawings as part of the project: pins on the sheet are linked to a defect, a task or an RFI, and the work on site starts from them. If what you mainly need is markup on PDFs, Bluebeam is the better tool.

How much does Bluebeam Revu cost?

According to Bluebeam's official pricing page as of October 2026, the price is per user, billed annually: Basics $260, Core $330, Complete $440 and Max $590 (introductory price). Which tools are included depends on the plan. Construction Team publishes its prices: Start €190, Team €360, Company €690 and Enterprise from €999 per month excluding VAT, per plan, not per user.

Which platforms does Bluebeam Revu run on?

According to the system requirements documentation, Revu 21 runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Mac users commonly run it through Parallels. Bluebeam also offers a web and mobile version. Construction Team runs in the browser with nothing to install.

Does Bluebeam Revu have a Bulgarian interface?

According to the list in Bluebeam's documentation as of October 2026, Revu 21 is available in English (US and UK), Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean and Japanese. Bulgarian is not on that list. Construction Team is available in Bulgarian and 12 other languages.

Can I use both together?

Yes, and for many companies that is the most sensible setup. Design and quantity teams can work in Bluebeam on PDFs, while the finished sheets are uploaded to Construction Team, where they are linked to the project, defects, RFIs and the 3D model.
